Connect With Janiera:
Can you offer any advice to the fledgling authors, just starting out?
Always write passionately with your entire heart! Write the novel, edit it and edit it until your 100% happy with it! When your book releases, don’t let any reviews get you down because you put everything you have into this novel. Always believe in yourself; that’s the only way others will believe in you too!
How do you come up with the Titles for your novels?
It’s strange because the title of my first book just came to me even before I started writing it! However, the titles for my next two books didn’t pop into my head until I was half way done writing them. I never have to think too hard about the titles for my book; at some point the books just kind of scream at me what they want their names to be.
If you don’t like a character you’re writing about, what do you do?
a. Kill them off instantly
b. Get over it and learn to like them
c. Give them a whole new personality
Really great question but none of the above. So far, I’ve never had a character I didn’t like. Now, I don’t condone everything my characters do but it is fun sometimes to step outside of myself and build characters the total opposite of who I am. I don’t learn to like them but I certainly learn to get over it!
Which type of book do you prefer to read?
I love all three and tell everyone: it doesn’t matter what format you read as long as your reading!
Do you have any weird writing rituals?
I have to have a beverage by my side every time I start writing! If it isn’t there I’ll get writers block and then I have to grab a beverage. It’s strange but it’s true!
What is the one book you can’t live without?
The Help! It is the only book I would even dream about reading twice so I really couldn’t live without it! It made me laugh, cry and be a better person; it’s also my favorite book –of-all-time.
Do you have any input in the Cover design of your novel?
Yes, one of the best things about being an indie author is that do have full control of my cover design. I work with cover author Marya Heiman and even created my own cover for my newest release Good Ghost Gone Bad. I really treasure having input over my cover because the cover says so much about a book I can’t imagine not having any say over the process.
What is the best thing about writing for you?
The best thing about writing to me is when you sit down to write that first draft; that first draft has all of the raw, unedited writing in it. You can really write what’s on your mind and flesh out the story so for me, this is the best part of the writing process. The best thing about writing is that you get share all the little things you normally have to keep in your head!
Are there any other genres you’ve written?
While my love for Urban Fantasy will never fade, my newest release Good Ghost Gone Bad is a horror novel and I truly enjoyed writing that!
What are you reading at the moment & would you recommend it to us?
I’m currently reading Beautiful Darkness from the Caster Chronicles series.
This book is pretty good , but I’d recommend reading Beautiful Creatures! I could not put that book down at all!
Thanks so much for having me on your blog Bella!
You are very welcome Janiera and thanks for letting me share your novels!
And just as an added bonus, I'm also sharing Janiera's first novel in the Soul Sisters Trilogy too!
