Talking with Helen
The Sunday Spotlight
Good morning Helen and thanks so much for being here
Firstly can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi Bella, thank you for having me on your amazing blog. I grew up in my home town in Hampshire, England. My childhood dreams were filled with the desire to become a dancer. An only child I was never alone, my years spent entertained with my vivid imagination. I met and married my husband not long after leaving school and soon after our son was born, our family is made complete with my two cats that are spoiled rotten which results in them often thinking they rule the home.
My life consists of home life and a few jobs in the retail industry, my vivid imagination refused to stay quiet and combined with my love of erotica and all things vampire I decided to try my hand at writing and has never looked back.
Have you published any other novels, if so can you share the details?
Innocence Lost, is the first of a set of three books, the series is called the Journeys of Innocence. It’s basically a love story, the corny saying “love can conquer all.” You are taken on a journey with twists in it. There are characters to fall in love with, to hate, and everything in between. Vampires that have fangs, and do bite, but not necessarily on the neck... Plenty of hot steamy sex that will tease your senses and leave you craving more...
Book two, Innocence Reclaimed is also out on Amazon with the third and final one, Innocence Reborn, being released July 30th 2013.
Which type of book do you prefer to read?
a. ebook I will always now buy the eBook version first, but if I really enjoy it I will end up buying the paperback. Only a very few, would I buy in Hardback.
EBooks are more practical for me, I can take my whole library on the move with me. So no matter where I am I can dip into a favourite book.
Do you have any input in the Cover design of your novel?
My artwork for all three books were designed for me by a good friend’s husband for free, Mr. Phil Roberts. He owns his own graphic design company. We met a few times to discuss what I had in mind. There were certain things she had to have that paid important parts in the books, such as her locket, and collar. He has done an amazing job, and I'm incredible honored to have his work on the front covers.
What is the best thing about writing for you?
I love it when I write something, then read it back and think. OMG did I just write that? My husband says he knows when I'm writing a particular naughty bit, he says I giggle, which is true. The whole three books surprised me, taking me to places that I’d never had had the chance to visit.
Who would be your dream cast if your novel was made into a movie?
My friends and I have discussed this many times and we still can’t agree who would play the characters. They would have to be, well, pretty amazing lol! I'm not sure they could be made into films, the erotica content might make them XXX plus.
Are you working on anything new right now?
Yes, I'm writing a new series, it runs by the side of the Journeys of Innocence Lost series. You meet the main male character in book two, Innocence Reclaimed, Lexi. The first book is nearly finished.
If you were stranded on a distant planet:- which of your characters would you like to be marooned with and why?
My leading man for sure, Blake. He’s immortal and wise, gentle and sexy as hell. I'm sure he could guide us through whatever came at us, while keeping the nights entertaining. And Xandrella, she’s a feisty warrior and would keep us safe, while the nights were entertaining!
Who is your all-time favourite author?
Just one? There are so many… Lora Leigh, J R Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Shayla Balck to name but a few.
When working on your current novel, were there any moments when you thought:- OMG what am I doing?
Lots! I had a lot of negative people around me asking me why someone like me would even contemplate in writing. I never finished school you see, only managed to scrape through a handful of exams, not including English. I am incredible proud of what I've achieved, they aren’t perfect books, by they are my heart and soul and would tell any would be writer, do not listen! Carry on pounding the keyboard! I would write now even if I didn’t make any money, it’s in my blood now and I won’t be kept back by anyone…
Again, thank you Bella for having me
